Sunset at McDonald Lake

Posted by Monte Stevens (Fort Collins, United States) on 31 March 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

I camped at Lake McDonald near Glacier National Park while on my motorcycle tour to the west coast in June of 2004. After pitching camp and making something to eat I walked down to the lake to watch the sun set and take in the beauty of the lake. The fires had ravaged this park a year earlier so most of the ridges you see in the background are burnt timber. The water was calm and crystal clear. You can still see the bottom of the lake several feet from shore. I like the different layers of mountain ridges in the background, reminding me a bit of the Smoky Mountains.
