Basking in Early Morning Sun

Posted by Monte Stevens (Westerville, United States) on 9 August 2008 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

Ever have one of those days where life feels uncomfortable, we are restless, nervous or worry and your printer wont work? I struggled with those the last couple of days. I have come to trust in prayer, meditation, solitude and walks to lift my spirit in these times. Well, I needed to use all of them yesterday. I took an early morning walk in Blendon Woods. What did I experience on my walk in nature; early morning sunshine, the colors and fragrance of flowers in an open field, watching the stealthy approach of a heron as it seeks food, seeing a deer on the trail, listening to the birds, squirrels scampering from tree to tree. Aahh, and the beauty of a butterfly basking in the sun. Our world is a beautiful place where walking in its midst can refresh us even if the printer still doesn't work!
